The William Henry Studio Is devoted to the vision of designing and building the finest tools possible. Since inception in 1997, they have established a new benchmark of excellence in luxury-grade functional art. Their distinctive creations offer unmatched performance as daily tools and are found among the finest collections of metalwork in the world.
The seamless integration of classic natural materials and state of the art alloys is a hallmark of William Henry's work - no compromises, no shortcuts, exceptional quality. Each component is precision machined to aerospace tolerances. The final fit , finish, action, and function of each tool is achieved with the irreplaceable and timeless craftmanship that has gained the studio international renown, accolades, and devoted users and collectors alike. William Henry crafts each work as a distinct piece of art - the goal is to build the finest tool possible, using any means available, with an eye towards excellence above all else.
Each William Henry creation takes between 6 and 10 months to produce, and incorporates the work of as many as 30 artisans across 800 individual operations. The goal is to build an exceptional tool; and to use that tool as a canvas to showcase exquisite artistry that will stand the test of time.
They source the finest materials from around the world, and work directly with master artisans who forge the exotic tapestries in metal for their exclusive use. They also proudly work with select studios across the globe to let their artistry find new resonance on the canvas of a William Henry tool, from gold inlays to chisel-carved silver to classic engraving.
William Henry Studio produces only limited edition offerings - every piece they make is part of a finite edition and features an engraved serial number. The standard catalog collection boasts limited production runs of either 250 or 500 pieces - often these runs take 3 years or more to complete. Beyond the catalog, they create an exclusive and dynamic range of Special Edition pieces; each offering ranges from as few as 1 to as many as 100 functional works of art.
All William Henry creations are packaged in a fine wood presentation box commensurate with the quality of their work. Within the box you will find a custom Certificate of Authenticity exactly describing the piece, serial number, date completed, and a list of all materials used. William Henry's cutting instruments stand alone as the finest pocket knives in the world; Timeless designs realized through a unique and complex production process that brings together tradtion, technology, and materials in perfect symmetry and balance.
Frame materials include titanium, mokume, damascus, steel with gold inlay, deep-relief carved silver and a host of other specialty alloys. Mokume and damascus are custom forged tapestries in metal - the rare art of creating patterns from alternating layers of metal alloys perfectly bonded and wrought red hot by master smiths around the US and across the world.
Scale and inlay choices include fossil wooly mammoth bone and tooth, ivories, rare shell, exotic hardwoods, carbon fiber, gold, silver, stone and anything else they find that is among the rarest of natural and high-tech materials. Fittings are custom made from stainless steel, titanium, silver and gold as dictated by the mechanical requirements of the knife and the aesthetic balance of the finished piece.
In addition to fine knives, William Henry has expanded their offering to include writing insruments, money clips and golf tools.
